Itinerary for two day trip to Goa.

A 2 day trip to Goa sounds quite adventurous and great. We have worked out with the help of frequent travellers and few local people to prepare this itenary especially for couples.

Before starting our two day trip, I would like you to brief North and South Goa so that it may help you to decide your taste.

North Goa

North Goa can be compared with few night life places of Delhi like Hauz Khas, Cyber hub. Although heavily populated but you can enjoy the best wine and beer in the pubs of North Goa.

South Goa

South Goa is best for those who are looking for a quiet and green accomodation. Enjoy the silence, bird chirping with your partner in South Goa. South Goa is a romantic destination for couples.Colva, Palolem, Agonda, Benaulim are some of the quite and serene beaches of Goa.You will also find the best accomodation in these parts.
I hope this brief introduction of North and South Goa must have given you the idea for what these areas are famous for.
Now, let's start with our two day trip itinerary.

Day 1

Historical places are less preferred by couples in Goa, so keeping this in mind I am including only two historical places which should not be missed in Goa.

You can start with Fontainhas, the ancient Portuguese neighbourhood in Goa. This area is serene, peaceful and has a distinct historical charm in it. You can feel the Old Colonial Goa here. All in all its a wonderful place to being your trip.

Next you can head to Keri- a village in Goa  which famous for Ayurveda and is  located about 8 kms from Ponda. The typical Goan architecture and scenic surroundings are mesmerizing and do not fail to capture the charm of goan culture which is surely a thing  not to be missed. You will get the best local cuisine of Goal in Meri which makes it a first choice for food lovers.

After indulging in Goan culture, in the night head to Souza Lobo's, one of the best restaurants serving best fresh seafood and wine in the city. Though this place is always crowded, it is the most preferred restaurant by all tourists and localites.

At night you can prefer to go Club Cobana to enjoy the dancing lights of club.

Day 2:

The second day , head to the classic Goan beaches, because no matter how many times you visit Goa, its beaches are an absolute no miss.
First on the list would be the Anjuna Beach which is perhaps the most crowded beach in Goa with a charming coconut grove in the backdrop and a famous flea market in the vicinity.
Next you can head for Palolem Beach which is a very calm beach, with colorful and vibrant Calangute. A must see for experiencing solitude and peace.
After these two Popular beaches, if you wish for more beaches you can opt for Colva beach this little area of glory brings about the very best of coastal beauty challenged in Goa.
Once you are in Goa do not miss to enjoy few water sports on these beaches:
Scuba divingThis is one sport that is growing in popularity in Goa. From Dona Paula or from the Aqua Marine in Panjim, rent some scuba gear and arrange for an instructor. With 5 to 10 m of underwater visibility, you will be able to see coral heads, lobsters, bright colored fishes and shells.
Other sports include Underwater walk, Barracuda diving.
You can taste the best sea food at Colva beach.
Now it's time to say Thank you to Goa for giving such an unforgettable time.
This all is just an itinerary followed by various travellers, you can manipulate it according to your comfort and choice.
We wish you a very happy and adventurous holiday.

On a very special demand of one of our follower, today i am sharing my experience of Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Trivandarum. In this blog i am just sharing my experience of Padmanabhaswamy temple, description of other tourist and unexplored places of Kerala will be shared in upcoming blogs.
There are many reasons that supports why Kerala is known as God's Own country. Today i will be talking of one of those many reasons. Padmanabhaswamy temple, one of the oldest and richest temple around the globe. The wall carvings and architecture of the temple itself gives the idea of its age. The story of the temple is really very interesting and especially if you will listen it from a local devotee present there. I am not going to share the story in this blog else it will abate your curiosity of listening it from a local devotee, but one thing i want to say its totally different from whatever you will explore from Wikipedia.
The architecture along with the traditional attire that one need to wear before entering in the temple add essence to the cultural heritage of the temple. This was the first temple in my life in which i enjoyed watching wall carvings and paintings rather than performing prayers. Seriously i have no words to describe the beauty of the murals of the temple. One thing i want to tell, when anyone orate the word Gopuram that means he is talking about the main entrance of the temple.

How to reach
* The temple is near to East Fort bus Stand. Once you enter in Trivandarum, take a bus to East fort. East fort buses are available from almost every corner of the city.
*From Trivandarum Central railway station , temple is about 3-4 Km so one can opt to walk through the MG Road market to reach here.

Darshan timings
Morning Timings
03.30 am to 04.45 am (Nirmalya Darshanam)
06.30 am to 07.00 am
08.30 am to 10.00 am
10.30 am to 11.10 am
11.45 am to 12.00 Noon
Evening Timings
05.00 pm to 06.15 pm
06.45 pm to 07.20 pm

Points to Remember
These are the few points that one must remember while going to the temple:
1. You should wear only traditional attire i.e. dhoti. You don't need to worry if you don't have dhoti, you can purchase it from outside the temple. Boys with good body shape have the chance to display it and others with good bellies have to worry a little, well that was just a poor joke, noone is going to see you their except your buddies
Different type of dhotis are available
Single Dhoti: Rs 65/-
Double Dhoti: Rs 140/-
Girls and ladies can wear dhoti over the jeans, salwar-suits or sarees.
*****We restricted girls of our group to come with us, reason you can think on your own.
2. Put all your luggage, mobile phones, wallets, leather belt in the lockers available outside the temple, you will have to pay minimal amount of Rs 5-7 per item.
3. Do not break the que inside the temple and cooperate with all the staff at your service.
4. Hold your dhoti once you are in the crowd else be ready for a oops moment.
5. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple area.

NOTE: Once you are in the main darshan area, you will see three doors. Start from the left most gate and you will see the face of Vishnu ji and then move towards the second and then to third gate.
*** Best time to visit temple is in Evening as you can see the whole temple is lighten up with diyas instead of light and this makes the temple view adorable.
There is nothing to feel shy if you don't have good body shape, just enjoy the feel of traditional attire and feel free to take photographs outside the temple.
Important:
*Do not even try to wear dhoti yourself if you are new, take help of localites present there.
*Spend good time inside the temple to see the wall carvings and mural.
Other Things to do
Once you are done with all photography stuffs and other robinhood things, go around the local market just outside the temple.
Best Kerala food is available in the nearby area of the temple.
We had our dinner in the Hotel Buhari, 1 Km walk from Temple. Uppam, IddiUppam, parotha (not sure about the correct spellings) were the few things available at that time. Being vegetarian i could have only Veg curry but Non vegetarians have lot of option there. My friends have opted for mutton Curry and according to them it was best till date.
There may be many other things also but this all was my experience. I hope i am able to help you out little bit. You can mail us your experiences, photos, videos on the below email address.

Saturday 30 April 2016

It has been a long time since i posted my last blog on Vaishno devi Pilgrimage but nevertheless wait always give sweet fruits. Today I am sharing my experience in "Lucknow:City of Nawabs"
Lucknow, capital of the largest state of India, Uttar Pradesh. Now after listening the word Capital don't start imaging Lucknow as other capital looks like.
The confusion starts as you arrive at Lucknow Station, as there are two station, one is old station and one is new known as Charbagh Station but don't worry they both are adjacent to each other. In local language they are known as "Choti Line" i.e. Old Station and "Badi Line" i.e Charbagh Station.
Lucknow is well connected with all major cities by train, airport and roadways so one don't have to worry about reaching Lucknow, Keep your all worries safe for dealing with the auto and taxi drivers there. Once you come out of the station avoid hiring private autos, straight away go to Prepaid taxi booth and hire taxi/auto from there. When i talk about Prepaid Taxi booth its understood that fare is fixed and there is no scope for showing your bargaining talent as happened with me. There are also public vehicles but if you are new to the city then i will suggest to hire private auto.
Now its time to rest for few hours in the hotel which you have booked and get yourself refreshed to enjoy the city of Nawabs.
Hotels you can Check-in at:
1. Hotel Clark, Hazratganj Area
2. Comfort inn, Gomti Nagar
3. Gaylord Hotel, Charbagh Station Area
I really want to list the hotels where you should never look for accomodation but it would not be good to mention it here so you can personally mail me to know the names of those hotels.
**If one will ask me i will suggest to stay near Hazratganj area only as this is the real beauty of Lucknow at night and moreover you will get easy conveyance to anywhere from Hazratganj.
As Lucknow is the Hub of education so i will also suggest some places for students where they can look for PG:
Suggested area for Students :
1. First of all look for PG near your college area only.
IET and Institute of Hotel Management: Aliganj area (Goel Chauraha and nearby area).
Average rent: 5000-6000 per month without AC (Including Breakfast and Dinner).
Lucknow University and BSIP: Students prefer Aliganj area as it is affordable, apart from Aliganj Students can look for accomodation in Hazratganj also but it is quite costly area so depending on your budget you can decide.
Hazratganj Average rent: Rs 9000-10000 per month including breakfast and dinner (Air cooler provided)
BBD university: You can get PG near Manas das Colony else you can opt for staying in college hostel also. Hazratganj is another option for comfortable stay, Direct buses to BBD are easily available from Hazratganj.
Apart from this there are many colleges in Lucknow but its not possible for me to mention all those but getting PG near college area is not a difficult task in Lucknow but my personal suggestion is to get some idea of the area before finalizing PG or flat.
So finally after a long discussion on places to stay i will now move on to the tourist places of Lucknow
Tourist Places of Lucknow
"History" the word describes all the tourist places but to know about the historical culture of India, Lucknow is the best place to Plan.
1. Bada Imambara
Direct autos are available from hazratganj, railway station, bus stand. You will have to walk 200-300m from auto stand. There is no need to hire private autos once you are inside the Lucknow city.
Auto fare: Rs 5-20 per passenger (depending on your route length)
Don't worry guyzz i am not going to talk about the history of this place. First of all keep your luggage in the locker room (left side adjacent to main gate) and now you can say Wow!! to the architecture of place. Remove your shoes before entering in the palace. Here you can have a guide who will be telling you all the history and special features of the place.
Guide fees: Rs 125/-
Trust me at the end you will be thanking the guide for all the facts told by him and don't forget to thank me as i have suggested you to go for guide.
Do's and Don't
1. Be with your group and follow the guide inside the maze (Bhool Bhulaiya) as it will be very dark inside.
2. Don't throw litter here and there, use dustbin provided by the maintainance committee.
3. Couples please avoid writing on the walls of the building.
4. Follow all the rules and regulations drafted by the maintainance board.
5. Enjoy
2. Chota Imambara
After coming out of the Baba Imambara you can take Horsecart locally known as Tanga. It will take you to Chota Imambara, Chicken cloth workshop, Ghanta-ghar.
There is no need to have guide here but if you really are interested in knowing the history then you can opt for the guide. Rest there is nothing to talk about this place except its history.
Do's and don't
Same as that in Bada Imambara.
3. Noori Darwaza
Just click the picture and praise the architecture of this gate and move on to ghanta ghar.
4. Ghanta Ghar
There is a beautiful park at ghanta ghar, you can sit here and relaxe for sometime.
5. Picture gallery
After walking few meters from Ghanta Ghar here comes the picture museum. It is one of the interesting place for history lovers.
6. Ambedkar Park
Before visiting this park i was in excitement of visiting one of the biggest parks of India. Before talking about this park let me clear i am not Anti-BSP. Once you enter this place, one thing you will see everywhere is Mayawati and her Elephants nothing else. I wonder what can be the motive behind constructing this useless place, a way to set her Identity or a way to increase her vote bank and then suddenly someone told that She want to be a history for fututre generations just as Mughals.
Do's and Don't
1. Carry atleast 3-4 water bottles with you as there is no water cooler inside the 107 acres land. There is only one Water Tap at the entrance and that too unfiltered and adjoining to Washrooms.
2. Carry eating stuff with you as you will not find a single canteen inside.
3. Avoid going there at noon time, the only beauty of this park is at night.
4. Apart from all its nugatory points, one thing that made me appreciate this place is the cleanliness maintained inside the place, kindly maintain this cleanliness.

Food paradise of Lucknow
1. Royal Chat, Hazratganj (especially Chat Basket)
2. Tunda Kababi
3. Bombay Pav Bhaji, Hazratganj
4. Lucknow Paradise, Kapoorthala Market
5. Lassi center, Near Sahara building
6. Lithi Chowka Point, near Oil India Limited office, Aliganj
Rabadi faluda, Lassi, Chat, All non veg dishes are some of the famous dishes of Lucknow.
Best Season to visit Lucknow: November-February
Overall if anyone want to know the cultural History of country, one must visit this place.

A Short Desciption of "Cochin"

This is just a short introduction of Cochin so kindly do not consider it a detailed one.
                                                                       "Desciption of Cochin"
Cochin is a port city rightly called the "Queen of the Arabian sea" located in the State of Kerala, also called "God's own Country", such mesmerizing title not only hints at its rich past but also of its present scenic beauty. Having a sea side location also adds to the cultural aroma which emanates from this place when you first land here. The myriad dimensions of this place urges you to be a part of it.
From its backwaters to its churches; from its beaches to its sanctuaries, every part of this "Queen" calls you to be a part of her crown. The tourist destinations of this place exceed any sort of counting but i will talk few of them. One should start from the Jewish Synagogue, the oldest of its kind in the commonwealth nations. The essence of this place will make you ponder upon Hitler's intention behind the "Holocaust". It should be followed by Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica, a church originally bulit by Portuguese and elevated to Cathedral by Pope Paul IV in 1558. The willingdon Island should be next on the list. This place is heaven for animal lovers. Periyar wildlife Sanctuary famous for Elephants, bisons, monkeys, antelops along with Thattekad Bird sanctuaries famous for rare and exotic bird species will surely be able to attract your attention. The st. Francis Church is still vibrant with the Echos of European Colonial Struggles and is sure to give "Kicks" to the history geeks. The aroma from freshly fried fish on the beaches of Cochin will tickle your tastebud.
You must try out Lakshwadeep. It will consume some of your precious time in travelling but mark my words those travelling times will be worth it when you set foot on the thousand of Coral Polyps made into an island, that probably lived million of years ago.
Cochin is one of the best city in the country and the beauty of this city will not let you feel tired even for a single minute.

Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage

Today I am going to share my experience of vaishno devi pilgrimage and hope that my experience will help in making your trip much better and memorable.
Vaishno devi pilgrimage is located in katra, 50 km from Jammu Railway Station. Earlier, Jammu used to be the last station but now thanks to Indian railways there are direct trains to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. If you are coming from flight then you can hire taxi from outside the Jammu Airport to Katra. Direct buses and taxis are also available to Katra from Jammu Railway Station that will cost you around Rs 1200-1300 (approx) and public buses will cost Rs 80/- per passenger.
SVDK (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra) Railway Station
This is the most beautiful and clean Station i have ever visited, you will not find even a single wrapper of toffee on the platform. Tourists travelling to SVDK can easily get Auto-rickshaw outside the station. Although the Auto fare is same for all autos but still you can try bargaining. Auto fare to katra market is Rs 100-140 (Max 5 passengers).
